Hislop College

Hislop College, Nagpur is one of the first college in the city of Nagpur. It is currently affiliated to Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University. It was named after Rev. Stephen Hislop (8th Sept. 1817 to 4th Sept 1863.), who was an Evangelist, Educationist and Geologist. He worked for 18 years in the Vidarbha Region.

It was established in 1883 in Mahal area of Nagpur. Though Nagpur was Capital of Central Provinces, but in 1882 there was no college.

It was affiliated to the University of Calcutta till 1904 and later to Allahabad University. In 1923 it was one of six college affiliated to University of Nagpur[1]
